Critical State

When your shield is running low on energy or health, the Critical State effect makes it look unstable, shaking, distorting, and even appearing to fall apart. This is a great way to give players clear visual feedback that their shield is about to collapse.

Crit Distortion Strength

Defines how strong the critical distortion appears.

💡 Tip: Low values work well for shields at “warning” levels, while high values make the shield look like it’s about to shatter.

Crit Noise Texture

The noise texture that drives vertex displacement during the critical state. You can add your own noise textures for custom distortion patterns.

💡 Tip: Use sharp, high-contrast noise for violent distortion, or smooth noise for subtle instability.

Crit Noise Tiling

A tiling (X, Y) option that controls how dense or stretched the critical noise texture appears on the shield.

Crit Distortion Direction

A Vector3 value that defines the direction of distortion, which is scaled by the distortion strength.
